If the TARDIS can translate any spoken or written language (with a few exceptions for complexity), and it seems to have no problem allowing Erimem to understand spoken English, why does she have to learn how to read English (apart from as a plot device)? Is there ever an explanation given, that I've possibly missed?

What deaths have occurred on the TARDIS?  For the sake of this discussion, let's exclude regenerations, as that's not really death.

Two questions, really, largely pertaining to Three. Is it ever stated where the Doctor lives when he's working with UNIT? We see his TARDIS, and for a while he's got the console in a gargage thingie, but as far as I can tell, there's no house or flat or anything. Does he stay in the TARDIS? Does he have a house? Having just watched Robot several days ago, I was wondering. When did the TARDIS key change to looking like a regular key, like the one the Ninth Doctor hands over to Rose in AoL? Of course we all know that the TARDIS rearranges rooms on a whim, or just to pass the time, or just to make things (in)convenient for her crew. Right?

But where did this notion come from? Is it TV canon? Book canon? If so, in which episodes/novels is it mentioned?

Or is this bug feature of the TARDIS pure fanon?

I know that the Butterfly Room popped up in some of the 8th Doctor's Book Adventures, but I was wondering if it had ever been seen in the actual series.
